Looking At Those Golden Globes!
Dec. 20th, 2001 05:02 pmI want to send along a shout-out to
ewan_mcgregor, who claimed a Golden Globe Nomination for his role in Moulin Rouge! A well earned and well deserved Nod from the Hollywood Foreign Press and I just wanted to say that I'm rooting for you! Ewan is up against:
Gene Hackman in The Royal Tenenbaums
Hugh Jackman in Kate & Leopold
John Cameron Mitchell in Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Billy Bob Thornton in Bandits
He should kick all of their butts, am I right?
Another of our people is
j_aniston who snapped up a Best Actress In a Supporting Role - Series, Mini-Series or Television Movie Nomination this morning for her role as Rachel on the popular NBC series "Friends." I've never actually seen the show, but I've heard lots of good things. Her competition is:
Tammy Blanchard in Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows
Rachel Griffiths in Six Feet Under
Allison Janney in The West Wing
Megan Mullally in Will & Grace
Again, this seems like a lock... but I haven't actually seen ANY of these shows.
Of course, I thought that Jennifer was the star of the show, since her name comes first in the credits... (Yes, I've seen the CREDITS - if I forget to switch the TV back to CBS before "Survivor" comes on) which makes me wonder, who really IS the star of the show? Ah, well, Best of luck anyway, Jen!
We should also celebrate
ryan_phillippe! His film, Gosford Park is up for several awards including Screenplay, Director (Robert Altman) and Best Musical or Comedy of the Year.
Of course, there is the small problem that the picture is up against Legally Blonde in the Best Musical or Comedy of the Year, and that
reese_w has been nominated as Best Actress! Whatever happened to Reese, anyway? Ryan? Any ideas?
Also we've got
jude_law who took a Best actor in a supporting role nomination for A.I. Artificial Intelligence Didn't see the film, don't know the guy. Any insights?
My newest thoughts on the matter: We need to see LJs from the following nominees:
Russell Crowe
Kevin Spacey
Denzel Washington
Hugh Jackman
Halle Berry
Thora Birch
Steve Buscemi
Marisa Tomei
Jennifer Garner
Calista Flockhart
Sarah Jessica Parker
Leelee Sobieski
If you know them, tell them to sign on! Congratulations to all the nominees!
The 59th Annual Golden Globes will be held at Merv Griffin's Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 20th on NBC.
