I did get back to [livejournal.com profile] parker_posey's party. And it only got wilder from earlier in the evening, thanks, in some ways, to my bartending.

As usual, I hopped back behind the bar and started mixing. In case you were wondering:

[livejournal.com profile] joeylaurenadams likes Vanilla Stoli
[livejournal.com profile] l_littrell prefers Malibu Rum
[livejournal.com profile] k_richardson drinks Cherry Coke
[livejournal.com profile] affleck had whatever he could get (nothing but Punky Brewsters and Natalie Portmans from me though!)
Steve the Dell Guy likes Bacardi and Coke
[livejournal.com profile] dave_letterman spiked the punch bowl with vodka of some unknown origin and had his own flask which he drained.

Gwyneth also seems to be a fan of Stoli, and she had a Cosmo or two, and a martini or two, (or was that a mar-two-ni or tea?) By that time, it barely mattered.

Gwyn showed off her assets in a dance medley that couldn't be topped (well, at least it wasn't!) And Letterman threw almost a full day's salary at Ms. Paltrow for her efforts (his salary, not mine... I think it would work out to be a 401K).

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] n_kidman and [livejournal.com profile] n_imbruglia were all about making an Aussie sandwich with me as the Vegemite! A sticky situation was very nearly had by all.

Of course the Party Girl herself, Central Parker, was ultimately to blame for all of this. That, and her new community [livejournal.com profile] bitchesareborn! Bigmouth Strikes Again.

I had to go. I didn't want to sleep through the day, especially when I have a couple more items to get before tomorrow's dinner party.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] parker_posey for a delightful time, and to everyone else who attended (including [livejournal.com profile] oscar_statuette who made a surprise cameo at the gathering), for keeping the party completely wild!

L8R, G8R.
The days are getting longer. The nights, stronger. I'm in a poetic mood this evening, clearly due in part to my guest earlier, Gwyneth [livejournal.com profile] paltrow.

Gwyneth, always the prompt one, arrived just a bit after 5pm at Casa de Kilby. I showed her around the joint and we came back to the kitchen for some cocktails and some chatting. I think I may have coverted her from Stoli to Grey Goose. We'll see.

No pressure on her at the Oscars this year. Just go, collect the Armored Car they give you for being a part of the show, read a TelePrompter and done. Sounds like a gig I'd like to do someday.

Gwyn is very encouraging about that! She didn't say it was a "pipe dream." She thinks I could host the show some year! (Never mind that I couldn't host the Grammy Awards on MY OWN NETWORK.)

I fired up the B-B-Q (a gift from a certain Neighbor) and grilled the Cajun chicken breasts, while Gwyn, not content in doing nothing, cut up veggies for salad. I had also prepared some salmon and caviar on toast points (thanks, Wolfgang!) and she went to The Cheesecake Factory in Brentwood and brought dessert.

She told me about growing up in New York, being a private school brat, and spending her summers at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where her mom trod the boards in any number of productions. I was surprised at how savvy and sassy she could be. But I shouldn't have been. New Yorkers tend to be fairly aware.

I limited my discussion about two of her father's programs, "The White Shadow" and "St. Elsewhere," to a minimum. Though we both agreed that Denzel Washington needs an LJ.

The chicken turned out perfectly and we couldn't have had a better meal if we had gone out to any of the restaurants I was considering. Plus, there was the added fact that we didn't have to deal with the paparazzi that, of course, always follow me around!

We had our cheesecake while watching a DVD of "The Muppet Movie," then made a Rainbow Connection of our own.

It was definitely a lovely evening, and I'm very much looking forward to next Sunday, when I'll escort her to the Academy Awards. Next stop... the tuxedo shop!

Night.
