So there's this person named [livejournal.com profile] gangstaninny who wanted to ask me questions. Just like when I do a press conference at Shutters on the Shore, I thought I would help out and respond to the queries she threw at me. We're claiming that this is for CNN.

1. Who is the worst guest you've ever had on the show? Who have you interviewed where it was like pulling teeth to get anything out of them?

There have been a few guests that were not wonderful. Back in the 1970s there was this stuntman/daredevil named "Evel Knievel." He got famous for doing things like jumping 25 London Doubledecker buses on a motorcycle, but then he nearly always crashed right afterwards. He wasn't big on calculating trajectories, I think.

Anyway, when he wasn't in the hospital healing broken bones or other organs, he found time to have a son. Robbie Knievel also became a stuntman and daredevil, though not nearly as accomplished as his father. When we had Robbie on the show, the first thing he did was walk onto the set, didn't shake my hand, he jumped and landed on my desk with his back and knocked several objects off of it. The interview went downhill from there. Needless to say, he never was invited back.

The toughest interview, bar none, was Anna Nicole Smith. Seriously, interviewing the empty, overstuffed leather chair that sits by my desk would have been easier. If you ever see a tape of that show (and I hope you never do), you can watch me sweating bullets trying to get her to formulate a sentence. I should have bribed her with B-B-Q or chocolate cake to get her mouth moving. Robbie Knievel is coming back to the show sooner than she will!

2. What constitutes a bad guest?

See above. Truthfully, though, most guests aren't bad! That's because they all have something to talk about. If you can hold a conversation, you could potentially be a good guest. Something that the audience finds interesting, something noteworthy. I can usually take a nothing interview and make it at least worth watching for four minutes. That Anna Nicole episode is proof that I'm not a miracle worker.

3. Who is the best guest you've ever had on the show? What was so great about him or her? And please do not do be Hollywood and say "everyone."

Wow! This is very difficult, because everyone really is great in his or her own way! That's not just "Hollywood Talk." I sincerely mean that!

Let me break it down this way.

Old Hollywood guest: Robert Evans. He's got style, class, panache and can really tell a story. I'd have him on every week, if he wasn't living new stories!

Young Hollywood guest: Elisha Cuthbert. She is a real showbiz trooper, having been bitten by a cougar during filming of her TV series, "24" and she rapped with LL Cool J, so she is fearless in nearly every way!

Singer: Morrissey. What can I say? It's Morrissey! Honorable mention to Dido, who wore a shirt that said "Craig" in sequins on it... and maybe another honorable mention to Avril Lavigne, who had the name "Craig" written in black magic marker across her tummy and over her navel recently at a public appearance.

I could go on and on, but that would defeat the purpose of the question. Everyone is great!

4. What is the biggest thing that's changed about your life since you were just a sports guy on ESPN?

Probably my lifestyle. I'm not stuck commuting to Bethel, CT. I have a lovely Spanish style home in the Hollywood Hills. I commute in the beemer to CBS, do the joke-joke and the laugh-laugh thing and then I'm out of there, off to a fantastic sunset along Sunset, or a sumptuous meal at The Palm, or Dan Tana's or Gardens at The Four Seasons! Life is good!

5. What were you thinking with this hair cut?

Wow! Where did you get that picture from? I thought the negatives were destroyed. Hm. Well, take note of what I have in my hand there. My third glass of ripple.

Okay. I admit I wasn't a trend setter in those days. I was a trend follower. The mullet was hap'nin in Minnesota back then! And yeah, I used to claim it was just a shadow, but no, that's a full-fledged mullet. This picture is proof that anyone can make improvements! I'm going to save it. Thanks for posting it! Thanks a lot!!!

Bonus question: If you were to have sexual relations with a man, who would it be?

You don't know how many times I've been asked this question. In fact, I don't know how many times!

Is this a bonus question or a boner question?

Anyway, I did actually make a short list of the guys who I might have been interested in, had I the tendency to go in that direction, but only because I was asked so frequently. There was Ben Affleck, Ryan Phillippe, Ewan MacGregor and James King.

Thanks for asking!

And I thought I had bad hair back in the day...but make it look good. Something like that. *laughs*

Oh, and if it's not too late to hit you up for the big five questions, I wouldn't mind to take a shot at it.

Sure!

1. What do you want people to remember you for most?

2. Name a skill you wish you had that you don't and what would you do with it?

3. You're now a member of the circus. What are you doing there?

4. What's your favorite CD? Why should I pick up a copy?

5. Name one thing from your past that you wish you could recreate now, and explain why.

And here I thought it was shadow. ;) Thank you, Craig. I've been watching your show lately and have a little bit of a thing for you but I promise not to get aggressive about it.

Thanks for the questions. I'll try not to do anything to make you get aggressive!
