Is this the last award show of 2002? Who knows? Actually we have the GQ Man Of The Year coming up on Saturday. And the Oscars only cover the calendar year of 2002, so perhaps that's the last "official" award show of the year. Anybody seen [livejournal.com profile] oscar_statuette lately? Come to think of it, maybe the last award show of the year is the MTV Movie Awards, which happens next June!

Anyway, tonight from the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, is the 2002 Billboard Music Awards on Fox! Some of our favorites... [livejournal.com profile] the_dirtay_one, [livejournal.com profile] j_timberlake, and [livejournal.com profile] lavigne are performing. And there's appearances by [livejournal.com profile] p_abdul, [livejournal.com profile] jcscottchasez, and S Club's Manager Barry Williams, so [livejournal.com profile] amanda_latona won't be completely bored.

And a bunch of other, typical award show stuff. It's live, so maybe something exciting will happen. And Cedric The Entertainer is hosting, so there'll be lots of good laughs. Or the potential for laughs, since those awards shows can make even the most hilarious people seem as entertaining as [livejournal.com profile] vin_diesel talking with [livejournal.com profile] david_blaine. Remember HIM???

But, if you want to skip the telecast, I have conveniently listed all of the categories below (the winners are in bold):

Female Artist Of The Year: Ashanti/Avril Lavigne/Jennifer Lopez/P!nk

Male Artist Of The Year: Eminem/Ja Rule/Nelly/Usher

New Artist Of The Year: Ashanti/Vanessa Carlton/Avril Lavigne/The Calling

Group Of The Year: Creed/Linkin Park/Nickelback/Puddle Of Mudd

Album Of The Year: "Weathered" - Creed/"The Eminem Show" - Eminem/"Nellyville" - Nelly/"M!ssundaztood" - P!nk

Hot 100 Single Of The Year: "Foolish" - Ashanti/"Hot In Herre" - Nelly/"Dilemma" - Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland/"How You Remind Me" - Nickelback

You don't care about those Adult Contemporary or Country awards, do you? It's okay, neither do they!

The most important things are the two tributes... One to Jam Master Jay of Run DMC and to Cher. Some things we wish we didn't have to do, believe me.

Who knows... maybe CBS will finally decide I'm ready to host the Grammys this time, after Jon Stewart did it the last couple of years, so I'm going to take notes. I'm starting my Award Show pitch early and often. Plus, it'll be a chance to cross promo "Old School," in theaters February 21st.

I just hope there's no "Sk8r Boi" on the program. Pleez.
