Sports Update
Oct. 21st, 2002 09:25 pmGreetings from beautiful San Francisco!
I have to admit, this town is lovely. It reminds me a lot of New York in some ways. The Embarcadero is a lot like the West Side Highway, and there are ships in port. Also, the weather is cooler, but lovely. You get that crisp bite of autumn! It's bracing!
Some people might remember I got my start in broadcasting as a sports guy. "JUMANJI!" Thank you. Thank you very much. And, of course, I'm here to watch the next three games of the World Series, and to enjoy all of the pleasures The City By The Bay can offer me.
But speaking of sports, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge a great sports hero who is around. His name is
brettfavre, and he's the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. He's a great sportsman and a member of
kilbys_angels, so he's most definitely worth befriending.
While I'm here in SF, I'm staying at the W, which is convenient to Pac Bell, and not far from downtown, and MOMA. It's great. I haven't been to a museum in quite a while, so I plan on checking that out later this week. Yeah, I know. "SFW."
I must admit, that if you just walked these hills all day, you would get into great physical shape. It is a fantastic aerobic workout climbing California Street! Everyone was looking at me. Maybe it was because they recognized me from the show, or it could have been because no one walks all the way up California Street and I was hunched over like a prizefighter that got slugged in the gut after getting to the top!
The whole town is festooned in Orange and Black. It's a Giant pep rally! Yep, Even the hookers in the Tenderloin district had Giant Boobs! Nice to see everyone taking interest.
Anyway, I'll be up here for the next three days, so if you have either a great idea for something to do, or you want to come join me (the games usually end at around 9ish, so I have the rest of the night free), let me know! I think there's some yacht party at the Marina tomorrow. But otherwise, I'm free for anything!
I'm very much looking forward to the games at Pac Bell! That's a beautiful ball park.
Also, the NBA season is going to start as soon as the World Series is over! And
k_russell, who is quite the Laker fan apparently, and I are going to opening night at the Staples Center. That's just a week away! Can the Lakers defend their title yet again? Can any team solve the mystery of the Shaq? Will Kobe outair Air Jordan? We'll have to wait and see.
That's your sports update!
