You have to love an episode of the [livejournal.com profile] late_late_show where the editing takes twice as long as the show itself. I almost want to pull a Dennis Miller rant at this point, but the thought police would probably pick me up for plagiarism.

Anyway, if you weren't in attendance for the show itself, begin by thanking your lucky stars.

Next, I have a few notes for the participants, or potential audience members for future programs. I don't want to single out anybody. This is just general guidelines for any guest of the show.

It's helpful if you don't bring a bong to the studio. I know here in the US of A, we're all about relaxation, but maybe deep frying the brain cells every minute is a bit excessive.

It might be nice if you wouldn't talk boisterously with your friends in the audience during the interview. You aren't at home watching the set and you aren't even reading the transcript at the [livejournal.com profile] late_late_show journal! Extraneous commentary gets cut anyway, so you might as well save everyone the trouble.

It would be delightful if you remained fully clothed during the program. I think David Niven expressed it best after the streaker zipped across the Oscar stage. Do you really need to display your shortcomings?

It's espcecially helpful if you must leave for some reason to just go, and not make a pronouncement and expect everyone to stop what they're doing to say goodbye.

If you have no interest in me, my show or my guests, don't come! There are plenty of regular chat rooms where you can pose, perform, be the center of attention, et cetera. This show is one hour once a week. I actually put some effort into making it entertaining. Getting good guests, some jokes. Yes, I write this show! I only ask for some courtesy for the guests and the other audience members who understand the concept of what's going on here.

And the last point is about inviting people. The issues with inviting other friends into the studio is that typically, they have no idea what they're being submitted to, and don't know what's going on. So, more of the problems cited above.

The bigger point is to have this new and fun way to expand on things around here. Hopefully, when you guest on the show, you'll have supporters who will be there for you.

I guess I sound angry. I'm really more upset with myself, in that the system I have doesn't work. No one is at fault, because I'm not about blame. But I'm actually glad to have a week off next week. Hopefully, we will be back with a good show on the 12th, and a new method of handling things.

Proud.

You do such a great job each week. I love reading the transcripts if I'm not able to attend, and as Leigh said, it's sad that everyone doesn't show the same appreciation. Maybe things will improve after your break. Thank you for being you.

1 - Your "snide" icon is so...scary! It hurts my feeling just to lookat it, even when I know it isn't directed at me.

2 - You know what I think. I'm at your service.
