Verities & Balderdash
Aug. 2nd, 2003 04:44 amThere are a lot of people around that can't tell the difference. Can you? Don't worry, it's not a quiz.
But I bring up the point for a lot of reasons! Topic One: Sex. We're going to have the sexiest week ever on our CBS show, with Candace Bushnell (the creator of "Sex And The City") on Wednesday and Hef himself, Hugh Hefner in on Friday, in preparation for his "Midsummer Night's Ball," the annual event held at The Mansion (and no, I'm not going to attend).
Speaking of Playboy, I was actually mentioned in the latest issue... "The Girls Of Starbucks" Issue, which is available on newsstands and wherever fine periodicals are sold. If you picked up the journal in question and turned to page 156, you'd see an interview with playmate Teri Harrison. The notable quoteable?:
Q: Ever met a celebrity who didn't live up to the hype?
A: Craig Kilborn. He's an asshole!
Of course, in the same column inch she also mentioned she was arrested for breaking into her friend's house and beating her up.
The point, my friends, is you always have to look at the source of the barb and judge the comment on who is saying it. Is it a respectable and respected person or just some tramp who really doesn't know what (s)he is talking about! How many cry-babies are out there? Apparently one for each dirty diaper they wear.
That reminds me! Anybody know why the Must Be Crap voting was opened during the Bubble Awards voting? This after the organizers of the MBC had all the time in the world to organize and arrange it if they wanted to get it together, after their nominees were announced? Seems like it's just another piss-poor attempt at grabbing attention. How incredibly clever! And of course, the results will be revealed before the Bubbles announce. Everyone is holding their breath. What else do you do around crap, anyway?
I'm actually in a better mood than I have been in a while. I've been busy listening to Elvis! Some of his early work is brilliant, but, later, he just started to suck. The bloated years when he just sat around... well, the word "pathetic" doesn't even describe it, does it? I think
sliminem got it right when he clowned the King in the video for "Without Me." Ah, those clowns from Memphis...
Anyway, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Remember to take some time to appreciate yourselves and each other. And also remember, you get what you give... and there's nothing new or radical about that idea.
