Night On The Town
Jan. 29th, 2003 04:04 amYes, I sometimes don't just hang at "54" with all of you people who really don't seem to like me all that much anyway! Sometimes you have to go be social.
So, I went to Larry and Shawn King's Black Tie benefit for Larry's Cardiac Foundation at the Regent Beverly-Wilshire Hotel. Call it a little tribute to my boss, David Letterman.
And yes, I brought a date. Just in case you thought I couldn't!
Larry Flynt was there and promised me a bunch of subscriptions to some magazines. I just throw those to the writers anyhow. Of course that'll mean the jokes won't get written until five minutes before airtime. Maybe, I'd better rethink.
Sidney Poitier was very charming and I hope he shows up around here some time. We could use some more style and class. Rod Stewart sounds better today than he did in the 80s, and I'm convinced that Leeza Gibbons is the grown up version of
m_moore! Maybe that's a mother/daughter role in the making. Oh, and I can't forget
mr_mcconaughey was also in attendance!
Of course, I was there at the invitation of my Party Palâ„¢ Robert Evans, who was receiving a special tribute. And Dana Carvey! Wasn't THAT special.
Maybe I'll start getting out more. It's nice to be around people who like me!
