Update

Jul. 20th, 2002 12:59 am
I know it's been a whirlwind week, what with getting the [livejournal.com profile] late_late_show back up and hopefully running, even though we moved it twice before it was settled on Saturday (That's TONIGHT!) at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific!

It's an unusual time and I can't even be sure we'll have an audience, especially one that knows about the proper studio etiquette. We shall see.

Still getting everything together is exciting! I forgot how much fun I have doing it in this format.

And I'm just starting to make arrangements for a special end of summer Late Late Show, for Labor Day weekend. I'll have more details about it in the coming weeks, but the basic gist is a barbecue that's also a show!

Meanwhile, Michelle and Scarlett are the guests for this evening's program. Give them your support, if you like them! And if you can't make the show, the transcript will be up shortly afterward in the [livejournal.com profile] late_late_show journal!

Have a great day!
What else could possibly go wrong with the Late Late Show? I'm beginning to think it's jinxed.

After my computer froze when I was transferring the last segments of Late Late Show #10, I lost the end of that program and the segments with [livejournal.com profile] parkerposey and undoubtedly the best ever Yambo in history, with [livejournal.com profile] c_diaz.

Then, On Late Late Show #11, we had to cancel the program because the audience got out of hand. So, we lost a great show with [livejournal.com profile] tobey_maguire and [livejournal.com profile] james_franco.

This is to say nothing of the various little problems we had with getting guests in and out on time, adjusting dates etc.

So, when it came time for Late Late Show #12, I had hoped that everything would have been fine. And it actually was... sort of. [livejournal.com profile] michelles_lake was late, but worked out fine. No. The problem: it was my very own computer that betrayed me. I attempted to open Word, but I couldn't. and every time I tried, the system froze and I had to do a hard reboot. I kept doing it because the freezing kept the room nice and cool.

Still, after a delay of over ninety minutes, poor Michelle and [livejournal.com profile] scarlett_j_ohansson and the rest of the audience were waiting patiently, and even took to doing their own version of the show while they hung out.

I have to admit, I'm extremely frustrated at having written a second show that no one will get to see, because of yet another glitch in the system. It's like feeling you get when you've written a great post, then you go back to change a comma to a period and WHAM! The whole thing gets sucked into cyberspace, never to be seen (nor duplicated) again.

I guess I'm the most upset about it all, since everyone took time away from their weekend activities to participate. I don't know what's going to happen next with the show, honestly. I'm so frustrated at this point, I might not even try to do it again, not because I don't want to, but because I would want to make sure everything works correctly, and, at least for the past 3 programs, that didn't happen.

I've been failed by technology, and apologies are not enough.

If I decide to try this again, I'll let you know.

Thanks to everyone for your patience, love and support.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
