Getty Fabulous
Apr. 24th, 2002 10:44 pmIt was a great day at the J. Paul Getty Museum. My friend
keri_lynn_pratt and her friend
alexei_yagudin arrived looking very urban in all black. The three of us explored the Getty. I enjoyed the number of Dutch Masters Like Van Dyck, Vermeer and Rembrandt. Alexei seemed taken with the Greek scupture. Keri seemed quite impressed with the entire collection, which, in fact, we didn't even get to see, since some exhibits were closed for renovations.
Alexei or "Yags" as he goes, is a figure skater. I wasn't really aware of the athleticism of skating on the Olympic level. He's very impressive.
We had a late lunch at Mezzaluna in Brentwood (please, no comments!) and I think I've made a new friend in Alexei. Keri has very good taste.
Did you know that there are more galleries in Los Angeles than there are in New York? So, for all the East Coast snobs who think the only culture in LA is in the yogurt, think again!
I think we might come back in late May for the Dutch Drawings exhibit.
All in all, a very pleasant afternoon.
